Where to find the best art supplies Melbourne can offer?

When it comes down to locating the best art supplies Melbourne can offer, you really need to do lots of research. With all the art supplies available in Australia, it could be quite hard to find the best art supplies available. The truth is that we artists need good supplies in order to achieve the best paintings or drawings. There are tos of supplies that you need to look for, but there are only a few that you really need to consider buying or purchasing for your artwork to be the best. Art is a wonderful way to express yourself and portray your inner feelings, but it could be hard to do so when your supplies aren’t exactly that nice to use.

•Where to find the best art supplies Melbourne can offer?
Using the Internet could be a very powerful way to locate the best stores in your area. Art supplies can be found in a variety of stores, but it’s very difficult to actually buy a set of art supplies that you know is actually going to help you make the best possible art. A good tip worth remembering is to never buy your art supplies from auction sites like eBay. Many people there are either fakes or they give away old items that can’t even be used. So, never use eBay. However, if you do decide to buy your art supplies on this site, then you should be careful and take caution. A good store in Melbourne is the Eckersley’s art store. They have over 25 stores located all over Australia and they carry some of the best watercolors, charcoals, and art supplies you will find in Melboune. You can also look online for several stores that are mainly located in Melbourne, but they sell their products online. So, there are many online stores you should consider buying from.

•What kind of art supplies do I need for painting?
When it comes down to painting, you really need a good paintbrush to paint with. Get one that costs a little bit more than the usual $5 paintbrush, as you really do get what you pay for. So, you should really opt for a much more expensive brush. I suggest that you buy several brushes that are different sizes, as you don’t want to limit your paintings by only having one big paintbrush. As a painter, you need lots of canvases to practice on. Of course, not every painting you make is going to be a masterpiece, but you can always try practicing by constantly painting on several canvases.

•Tips when painting.
A good tip worth remembering is to always paint something you really adore in real life. For some, they paint things or places they don’t like, so they get tired and they just wasted a wonderful canvas. So, draw anything as long as you love it. Another thing worth mentioning is to always paint very slowly to get the best possible painting. Don’t ever rush a painting and always take your time. A good amount of time to create a painting should be about two to seven days, so take your time and deliver what’s coming from your heart.

•Art supplies for drawing.
Some of the art supplies you need for drawing are pencils, paper, and other shades of pencils. It’s hard to really get that extra part of the picture when you only have one type of pencil. The paper you buy should be meant for drawing, so that the pencils can flow onto the paper more easily. I highly suggest that you try using watercolors and charcoal, as they can help create a wonderful look than always using pencils. However, pencils are still good to use no matter what, just remember to buy a variety of them in different shades.

Getting the best art supplies is a vital aspect to have in order for your artwork to be the way that it can be. By using the best art supplies Melbourne can offer, you can easily create paintings or drawings that will captivate people and touch everybodies hearts. Remember to buy your art supplies from a respected source, as you don’t want to waste your time and money using old supplies or ones that won’t get you the best results possible.

Google’s New Freshness Update: Social Media Has Changed the Expectations of Searchers

Timing is everything. On Monday, I was asked if I would give a presentation at the Internet Summit 2011 in Raleigh, NC on November 15th and 16th on an advanced SEO topic. I thought about it, and agreed, and decided to give a presentation on how social media has been transforming search on Tuesday [...]

How Google May Demote Some Search Results for Subsequent Related Searches

Sometimes when you search at Google, you might not find any results that you find interesting and may search again using a somewhat similar query. Chances are that you don’t want to see the same sites or pages all over again. A newly granted patent from Google describes how the search engine might demote [...]

Grow a moustache and fight cancer!

For my next 30 day challenge, I’ll be growing a mustache to raise awareness and money for men’s health issues, and specifically prostate cancer research. Men of search and SEO, please join our team. You can raise awareness, or raise cash. And it’s super simple: just don’t shave your moustache for 30 days. The name of the event is Movember and it should be a blast. Here’s my profile page, for example.

To keep myself honest, here I am, clean-shaven, with a today’s issue of USA TODAY on November 1st:

Matt Cutts, clean shaven on Nov. 1st

By the way: Kim Kardashian is getting divorced‽! I really thought they had a love for the ages.

This is going to be an extra-fun 30 day challenge because I’m joining up with Duane Forrester of Bing and we’re both raising money for the cause. I have to warn Duane though: he might not realize how fast my moustache grows. For example, here I am just an hour after I shaved clean:

Matt Cutts, just an hour later!

That’s right Duane, I can grow a moustache in an hour, so look out! :) By the way, thanks to Mike Halvorsen for asking a timely question about Movember during our recent live Q&A on YouTube.

This should be quite a fun month:
        – If you’re a woman (or a man who can’t or won’t grow a moustache), you can still help out the cause by donating to our team.
        – Men, I hope you will grow a moustache this month. A great cause like Movember only comes around once a year–why not join us? All you have to do is not shave. It doesn’t get any easier than that.
        – The Twitter tag is #seostache if you want to root us on. I hope to see some serious stache from fellow people of search!

          Halloween costume: stickman from xkcd

For Halloween this year I asked people on Google+ what I should be for Halloween, and someone suggested going as the blackhat stick man from xkcd. You know, this guy:

Black hat stick man from xkcd

That sounded like a good challenge. I finished the costume and taped a video, but unfortunately I didn’t have enough time to get the video to the quality level that I wanted. Here’s the video:

A couple quick things: 1) I know the video is cheesy and lo-fi, but that’s what I was going for. 2) With a little more time and more work on the video (e.g. better lighting, turning off automatic brightness on the video camera, a little more time spent on the greenscreen key) I think it could have been pretty great. But sometimes you run out of time, and October was a busy month. :)

Maybe I’ll write a bit more about the costume and the video later. Happy Halloween everyone!

How Google May Identify When Sites Transform into Doorway Pages

You go to a site that you’ve enjoyed and bookmarked sometime in the past but haven’t visited in a while, and it’s changed. The topics it discusses are different, or the writing style isn’t quite the same, or it suddenly has links within its content to commercial pages that it probably wouldn’t have linked [...]

One question I’m sometimes asked by people is about whether or not they should choose a domain name that includes the name of their business or brand, or if they should use keywords within a domain name to make it easier for them to rank for those keywords in Google and the other search [...]

Authority vs. Popularity in Search Engine Rankings

When search engines return web pages in search results in response to a query, most people assume that the pages being show are the ones that a search engine has decided are the “best” pages in response to their search terms. But what does the word “best” mean in that context? The search engines [...]

                  Halloween Pumpkin: Portal Turret!

I made a Portal turret for my Halloween pumpkin! I was trying to think of things to carve: vampire Android? R2-D2? Zoidberg? Then I thought: I could do a character from Portal 2! I was going to carve something like GLaDOS or Wheatley, but then I realized that a portal turret would be perfect:

To make the glowing red eye, I punched a small hole in the pumpkin, taped an LED to a battery, and pushed the LED from the center of the pumpkin through the small hole. I thought about doing an actual red laser, but 1) I don’t want to blind any kids walking by my pumpkin, and 2) laser beams aren’t visible unless there’s fog or smoke or something for the beam to hit.

To make the side “gun” sections of the pumpkin, I had a small dowel rod lying around, so I just cut two small stakes from the dowel rod and jammed them into the pumpkin sides. It’s a bit rickety, but it works. For the video, I played some turret sound effects and moved my red laser over the pumpkin as if another turret was locking onto it.

I didn’t want to take long to carve my pumpkin. I finished it in maybe an hour, but check out this really elaborate pumpkin that someone else did. And it turns out that they work at Google too!

I like how my pumpkin came out overall:

Portal 2 turret pumpkin for Halloween!

Happy Halloween, and I hope you’re getting creative with your pumpkin carving!
